Week 9

What I learned this week
This week I really enjoyed the LDS reading and applying it to my entrepreneur thinking.  The idea of challenge to become intrigues me.  Yes it is a challenge to become all that our Heavenly Father wants us to be, but we have to think about every aspect in our life from our spirituality to our business to our home life.  I think once we do that we will realize as I did this week that every aspect of our lives are connected.  There will always be spirituality in our business and our home life if we are truly doing what the Lord wants us to do.
I also really enjoyed watching the videos.  I like the short ones partly because my internet is very slow and it takes a really long time to load but because I seem to be able to come away with principles that I can use a little bit easier.

What I want to learn
I am hoping to learn a few steps that it would take to open a business.  That was one of the main reasons why I wanted to take the class.  I have learned a lot about myself but I am hoping to be able to see clear steps of what I should be doing now in order to get my business opened.

Week 8

What I learned this week
I think that what I really enjoyed doing this week was the mentor session.  I have been saying that quite often.  It is actually pretty funny because a lot of times I procrastinate getting it done, because of various reasons, but every week after I get it done I realize that I really enjoyed doing it.  I love to be able to get a deeper look into myself and why I want to do things.  I always knew that I wanted to help my community and my family with a business but I didn't really think about why.  I also really loved seeing that I could have some kind of plan in mind to be able to move forward in opening my business and becoming a better person.

What I am looking forward to learning
I am looking forward to finishing the mentor sessions and exploring more things that I want and things that maybe I didn't know that I wanted.  I want to be able to see progress in myself and moving forward toward the goal of being able to open my business.  I am excited to be able to take what I have learned and what I will learn and using it to better myself, my family and my community.

Week 7

What I Learned
This week I have learned more about myself.  I realize that a business is a lot of work and will take time and talent.  I also realized that I don't have everything on my own that it takes to own and operate a business.  I know that I do have skills that I probably don't think about and that I also can learn more skills, but it will be important to be able to find and work with other people who have skills that you will need to make your business successful.
I really enjoyed reading the LDS perspective articles.  They always help lift me up and think that I can truly do anything that the Lord wants me to do.  I know that it is important to learn from mistakes you have made and then continue forward with the future.

What I Want to Learn
I am looking forward to learning more about myself and also figuring out the skills that I will need to have and develop so that I can get my business started.  I also want to learn how to use the connections that I have in order to help me to learn the skills that I need in order to grow and develop my business successfully.

Week 6

What I learned this week
This week I learned about the importance of integrity, honesty and virtue in the work place.  Through the readings, I realized that I do have integrity, honesty and virtue in my everyday life, but when it comes to running a business will it be that simple.  Will there be more chances to maybe bend the rules and do something that you wouldn't normally do?  It made me think back to when I was a youth and the lessons in Young Women's about choosing now to do certain things or to say no to other things that way when faced with the choice it will not be a hard decision.  I think that the same principle applies to business.  Choose now not to bend the rules to make a little more profit.  Choose now that when confronted with the choice to do something unethical that you will say no. That way it won't be a hard choice in the future.

What I am looking forward to learning
I am looking forward to doing the next mentor sessions from the book.  I have been learning a lot from that book about myself and what I really want from my future business.  It makes me excited to learn more and look deeper into myself so that I can get started with this business.

Week 5

What I learned this week
This week I learned that we have to be good stewards over everything we have been given.  We have been given things like children, a good place to live, clothes, money to live on, food, talents, etc.  I hadn't really ever thought about the fact that we will be held accountable for the use of my finances and how well I handle them.  I know they have very temporal consequences.  For instance, if you spend more than you make you go into debt and have to pay interest.  If you spend all that you make, you won't have any money to retire on.  If you spend less than you make, you can save up to buy the things that you need without having to go into debt as well as having a good retirement for when you are older.  I understand these consequences very well and always have.  I just never thought of it as having spiritual consequences as well.
What I am looking forward to learning
I am really excited about exploring the spiritual consequences of our finances.  Finance is always something that has really intrigued me and so I am really looking forward to studying this new aspect that I have found.  I am also looking forward to finishing all of the mentor sessions and seeing if I really feel like I want to be an entrepreneur.
